O espelho de Deus

Tornai-vos praticantes da Palavra, e não somente ouvintes. Tiago 1:22

— João Nelson, vá direto ao banheiro e olhe no espelho. Como você está! disse a Sra. Silva ao filhinho. Ele tinha brincado no parque, onde havia barro.

João foi olhar o rosto no espelho. Os pingos de barro tinham secado, deixando o rosto todo salpicado. A roupa também estava suja de lama, e o cabelo estava bem despenteado.

Naquele momento ouviu um assobio lá fora. O amiguinho Tomás queria brincar com ele. Então João Nelson saiu correndo do banheiro, passou pela porta da cozinha e esqueceu-se completamente do que tinha visto no espelho.

Olhar no espelho não adiantou nada para João Nelson, você não concorda? Muita gente se olha no espelho de Deus do mesmo modo. Até quando vê a sujeira de sua própria vida, esquece de cuidar disto.

Você sabe qual é o espelho de Deus? É a Bíblia, a Palavra de Deus. Quando um professor ou professora conta uma história da Bíblia, ou o pastor prega um sermão, ou fazemos culto em família, ou lemos nossa Bíblia sozinhos, a Palavra de Deus é igual a um espelho.

Por exemplo, quando ouvimos Jesus dizer: "Que vos ameis uns aos outros, assim como Eu vos amei", reconhecemos que não temos sido bondosos, não temos mostrado amor como Jesus quer. Quando a Bíblia diz: "Alegrai-vos sempre no Senhor" e nosso jeito é ficar resmungando, amuados, irritadiços, então ouvimos Deus dizendo como nós devemos ser. É igual a olhar num espelho. A Palavra de Deus nos mostra todos os nossos defeitos e erros.

Só que não adianta olhar no espelho e depois não fazer nada para consertar o que vemos. Quando o rosto está sujo, precisa ser lavado. Quando o cabelo está despenteado, precisa de pente. Quando vemos que Deus quer que sejamos bondosos, precisamos deixar de tratar mal os outros. Quando Deus nos fala para sermos alegres, devemos parar de fazer cara feia. A Bíblia diz: "Tornai-vos praticantes da Palavra, e não somente ouvintes."

Como é que consertamos o que vemos no espelho? O rosto, lavamos com água. No cabelo, passamos o pente. Mas para limpar e arrumar a nossa vida, precisamos crer em Jesus e no Seu amor e seguir os caminhos dEle.

Perguntas sobre as quais podemos conversar: Que foi que João Nelson viu quando se olhou no espelho? Por que não adiantou nada ele se ver no espelho? Qual é o espelho de Deus? Como podemos nos olhar neste espelho? Quem é a única Pessoa que pode lavar todos os nossos pecados? Como Ele fazia isto? Que é que podemos fazer para evitar que as nossas vidas se manchem e fiquem em desalinho completo?

Querido Pai celeste, faze com que usemos muito o Teu espelho e peçamos que Jesus lave os nossos pecados. Ajuda-nos também para que nossa vida tome um rumo certo e benéfico por amor a Jesus, e assim continuemos limpos. Amém.

A grande tarefa de nosso Senhor

Jesus veio ao mundo para salvar os pecadores. 1 Timóteo 1:15

— Mamãe, por que as figuras não mostram Jesus sorrindo? perguntou Décio.

A mãe pensou um pouquinho e respondeu:

• Bem, Décio, nem todos os quadros O mostram tão sério. Eu me lembro de um que tem Jesus sorrindo, ela disse. Ele está ouvindo as crianças que Lhe dão louvores no templo, e sorri então.
• Este veio no meu folheto de Escola Dominical, disse Décio. Mas por que a maior parte dos quadros O mostra bem sério?
• Bem, disse a mãe, você já viu como os reis ou presidentes dos países geralmente estão nas fotografias?

— É sim, mas é por causa do grande trabalho que têm de fazer, falou Décio.

A mãe de Décio concordou com um aceno da cabeça, e continuou: — Sim, Décio, e Jesus tinha um trabalho muito maior para fazer, maior do que o de qualquer dirigente de uma nação. Jesus teve a tarefa de salvar o mundo inteiro do pecado e do castigo do pecado. Ele precisou até morrer para completar esta obra.

Décio meditou um pouco sobre isto, e depois comentou: — Eu acho que foi bom Jesus ter sido representado sério nas figuras. Elas nos lembram o trabalho importante que Ele fez.

• Pois é, disse a mãe. E não nos esqueçamos que Ele fez isto por nós. A Bíblia diz: "Jesus veio ao mundo para salvar os pecadores." E nós estamos incluídos. Mas sabe de outra coisa?
• O que? perguntou Décio.
• Eu tenho certeza que Jesus sorriu muitas vezes quando Ele estava com Seus amigos.
• Também acho, disse Décio. Quem gosta das pessoas sorri para elas.

Vamos conversar sobre isto: Por que a maioria dos quadros mostra Jesus tão sério? Que diz nosso versículo da Bíblia que Jesus veio fazer? Quem são as pessoas chamadas pecadores? Que foi que Jesus fez para salvar-nos? Como podemos ficar salvos dos nossos pecados? Por que Décio achou que Jesus deve ter sorrido muito?

Porque Silvio não podia ver Deus

Rute convidou o amiguinho Sílvio para ir com ela à igreja.

— É a casa de Deus, disse Rute. Ali Deus fala conosco. Então Sílvio foi à igreja com Rute. No caminho para casa, Rute quis saber:

• Então, Sílvio, você gostou? O que achou de estar na igreja?
• Gostei, disse Sílvio. Mas onde estava Deus? Eu não O vi de jeito nenhum.

Rute respondeu: — Ora, Ele estava lá o tempo todo. Mas ninguém pode enxergar Deus. Ele não é como nós.

• Por que a gente não O vê? Sílvio perguntou. Se nós não O vemos, como sabemos se Ele está ali?
• Você enxerga o vento? perguntou a mãe de Rute, que vinha junto e escutava a conversa.
• Não, não dá para ver, disse Sílvio.
• Então como você sabe que existe o vento?
• Vejo o que o vento faz com as árvores. E sinto o vento no meu rosto, disse Sílvio.

• Pois bem, disse a mãe de Rute. "Deus é Espírito." Ele não tem um corpo. Mas nós podemos ver o que Ele faz. Podemos sentir Sua presença quando O amamos no coração. E podemos ouvi-lO falar quando escutamos Sua Palavra.
• É. Acho que a gente precisa ir à igreja mais vezes para poder ver a Deus assim como a senhora fala, disse Sílvio.
• Não é nem preciso ir à igreja para ver Deus deste jeito, disse Rute. Podemos amá-lO em qualquer lugar. Mas ir à igreja ajuda a pessoa a conhecê-lo, porque lá aprendemos mais sobre Ele.

Perguntas sobre as quais podemos conversar: O que Rute disse que a igreja é? Por que ela chamou a igreja de casa de Deus? Que é que Sílvio disse no caminho para casa? Por que Sílvio não viu Deus? Quais são os pontos em que o vento e Deus se parecem? Você sabe dizer o versículo da Bíblia?

Parable of the Talents / Parábola dos Talentos

 “So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.’  His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’  He also who had received two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.’  His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’  “Then he who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed.  And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.’”   [Matthew 25;20-25]

Parable of the Talents

This parable also teaches that when the Lord returns, there will be true and false servants. It is not difficult to see that Christ is the master. After a long time the lord…came back and settled accounts with them.

This depicts the Second Advent. The first two received exactly the same commendation: “Well done, good and faithful servant…” The test of their service was not how much they earned, but how hard they tried. Each used his ability fully and earned one hundred percent. These represent true believers whose rewards is to enjoy the blessings of the Messianic kingdom.

The third servant had nothing but insults and excuses for his master. He accused him of being hard and unreasonable, reaping where he had not sown, and gathering where he had not scattered seed. He excused himself on the basis that, paralyzed with fear, he buried his talent. This servant was doubtless an unbeliever; no genuine servant would entertain such thoughts of his master.

His lord rebuked him as wicked and lazy. The master is not agreeing with the charges against him. Rather he is saying, “If that’s the kind of master you thought I am, all the more reason to have put the talent to work. Your words condemn, not excuse you.”

The unprofitable servant was cast out—excluded from the kingdom. He shared the anguished fate of the wicked.

Dear friend, are you faithful in what the Lord has entrusted you with?

 “But his lord answered and said to him, ‘You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed.  So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest.  Therefore take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents.And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. Enoch was on the Earth for 365 years and the Lord took him unto another height in the Year 987. The number 365 signified the future astronomical occurrence would take place and eventually it did in the life time of Joshua. In the year 2709-10 or around there, the Earth’s orbit changed from 364 days to 365 days and a few hour overlap. This was essential so that about 3,300 years later the years would be divisible by 7 like it was for the times of Adam to Moses and to some extent to the times of Joshua. According to the Book of Joshua "the sun stood still and the moon stayed (Joshua 10:13).

From the times of Joshua, the years accrued extra days that build up into extra years.  Therefore, year 2000 is equal to the Enochian Year 6006 and in deducting the 11 extra years from 6006; the year 2000 is equals to a period between 5,994 years: 273 Days and 5,994Years: 364 Days (estimated times).

 “When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?”  They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”   “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”   [Matthew 16:13-16]

"You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God."

Everything hinges on getting the answer to this question right: Who is Jesus Christ?
The crowds knew Jesus was unusual, but nobody could figure out why. Their best explanation—he was a rerun of one of their heroes—fell short of the truth.
It matters because if Jesus is just the latest in a long line, then we’ll always be waiting for someone else to come along and upstage him. His relevance would diminish over time, and his importance would fade. But since Jesus is the One and Only, we cannot afford to make any mistakes in our relationship with him.

Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”Our Lord pronounced a blessing on Simon. The fisherman had not arrived at this concept of the Lord Jesus through intellect or native wisdom; it had been supernaturally revealed to him by God the Father. But the Son had something important to say to Peter also. So Jesus added, “And I  also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.”  The question is,”Who are what is the rock?” Part of the problem arises from the fact that Greek words from Peter and for rock are similar, the meanings are different. The first, petros, means a stone or loose rock; the second, petra, means a rock, such as a rocky ledge.
So what Jesus really said was “..you are Peter(stone), and on this rock I will build My church.” He did not say He would build His church on a stone but on a rock.

If Peter is not the rock, then what is? If we stick to the context, the obvious answer is that the rock is Peter’s confession that Christ is the Son of the living God, the truth on which the church is founded. Ephesians 2:20 teaches that the church is built on Jesus Christ, the chief cornerstone.  Christ is spoken of as a Rock in 1 Corinthians 10:4.

Jesus took up their old Hebrew illustration—rock, always the symbol of Deity—and said, “Upon God Himself—Christ, the Son of the living God—I will build my church.”

Dear friend, do you believe in the truth that God revealed to Peter, that Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God? Everything hinges on getting the answer to this question right: Who is Jesus Christ?



 

"The stone the builders rejected
   has become the cornerstone"

 “Jesus looked directly at them and asked, “Then what is the meaning of that which is written:“‘The stone the builders rejected
   has become the cornerstone’? Everyone who falls on that stone will be broken to pieces; anyone on whom it falls will be crushed.”
[Luke 20:17-19]

“So Ahab sent word throughout all Israel and assembled the prophets on Mount Carmel.  Elijah went before the people and said, “How long will you waver between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.”   [1 Kings 18:20-21]

"How long will you waver between two opinions?"

  King Ahab went to meet Elijah and accused him of being a trouble-maker for Israel, not realizing that the man of God was one of the best friends Israel ever had. Not fearing for his own life, Elijah answered Ahab fearlessly and accusingly. He blamed the king for mixing the worship of Jehovah with Baal-worship and challenged him to assemble his idolatrous prophets for a contest on Mount Carmel to determine who was the true God.

Addressing the assembled representative of Israel, Elijah accused them of wavering between two opinions; they should choose either the Lord or Baal. Then the contest began. Two bulls were to be killed and laid on kindling wood. Elijah would represent the Lord, whereas four hundred and fifty of Ahab’s prophets would represent Baal. The God who answered by fire would be acknowledged as the true God.
The prophets of Baal cried out to their god and hopped around the altar from morning till noon. Elijah mocked them with helpful excuses for Baal’s failure to answer. In desperation they cut themselves with knives and lances and raved on until the time of the evening sacrifice.  But there was no voice; no one answered, no one paid attention.

Then Elijah built an altar of twelve stone in the name of the Lord, representing the twelve tribes of Israel. Then to eliminate any possibility that the altar might be ignited in any way other than by a miracle, he saturated the oxen and the wood with twelve barrels of water.

At the time of the evening sacrifice, Elijah prayed that God would reveal himself by sending fire from heaven. Immediately the fire of the Lord fell from heaven, consuming not only the sacrifice but also the wood and the stones and the dust, and the water in the trench around the altar. The people were thus compelled to acknowledge the Lord as the real God.

Only after the people acknowledged that Jehovah was God and executed the prophets of Baal could the rain come. Confession of sin and obedience to the Word of God are the steps to blessing.




The God who answers by Fire

  “At the time of sacrifice, the prophet Elijah stepped forward and prayed: “LORD, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things at your command...Then the fire of the LORD fell and burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the soil, and also licked up the water in the trench.  When all the people saw this, they fell prostrate and cried, “The LORD—he is God! The LORD—he is God!”  [1 Kings 18:36-39]
